We are looking for a Hospital Consult Data Entry Specialist to process incoming hospital consults and capture them accurately in the practice's EHR. Working from a shared consults inbox, this role creates patient charts and encounters, attaches demographic and coding documentation, and enters the associated codes so that every consult is recorded through one standardized, centralized process. This is an onsite role based in Bangalore, India, requiring US business hours.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and work through a shared email inbox containing incoming hospital consults
- Open each consult and determine whether the patient is recent or existing in the clinic's system
- Create a new patient chart and encounter for new patients; create a new encounter for existing patients
- Attach the demographic sheet and associated coding documentation from the email to the correct patient chart
- Enter the codes listed on the demographic sheet into the encounter as required
- Follow the standardized consult-intake workflow consistently so that every consult is captured
- Maintain accuracy and turnaround targets while handling high volumes of consults
- Flag incomplete, unclear, or duplicate consults for supervisor review
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient-data handling requirements
REQUIREMENTS
- 1+ year of experience in medical data entry, patient registration, charge entry, or medical records in a US healthcare setting
- Hands-on experience with an EHR/EMR system for creating patient charts and encounters
- Comfortable working from a shared inbox and following a documented, repeatable workflow
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in high-volume data entry
- Proficient in Excel and general data entry
- Strong written English communication skills
- Available to work US business hours onsite in Bangalore
