The Press Brake Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC or hydraulic press brake machines to bend, form, and fabricate sheet metal components according to engineering drawings and production requirements while ensuring quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC/Hydraulic press brake machines.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Select appropriate tooling, punches, and dies for bending operations.
- Perform machine setup, alignment, and programming (if CNC).
- Measure finished parts using calipers, vernier, height gauges, angle gauges, and other measuring instruments.
- Ensure products meet dimensional and quality specifications.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
- Troubleshoot minor machine issues and make necessary adjustments.
- Conduct routine machine cleaning and preventive maintenance.
- Follow production schedules and meet daily output targets.
- Maintain a clean and protected work environment by following safety procedures.
- Report machine breakdowns, quality issues, and production delays to supervisors.
Required Qualifications
- ITI/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 2–5 years of experience operating CNC/Hydraulic press brake machines.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T; (preferred).
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Familiarity with measuring instruments.
- Basic CNC programming knowledge is an added advantage.
