The Role
Building infrastructure for high-frequency trading is fundamentally different from building conventional software.
Every component of the platform-from market data ingestion and networking to execution engines, infrastructure, security, monitoring, and deployment-must work together with predictable performance under demanding market conditions. Small improvements in latency, reliability, or operational efficiency can have a significant impact.
As Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and continuously evolving the technology that powers our trading business.
This is not a role for someone who has specialised in a single part of the infrastructure stack. We are looking for an engineer who has built trading infrastructure end to end and understands how every layer contributes to overall system performance. You should be comfortable moving between architecture, infrastructure, networking, operating systems, execution, security, cloud platforms, and production operations.
Depending on your experience, your work may include:
- Designing and evolving the architecture of our low-latency trading platform.
- Building high-performance execution systems capable of processing market data and placing orders with minimal latency.
- Developing scalable infrastructure for market data ingestion, storage, simulation, and backtesting.
- Optimising Linux systems, networking, and infrastructure for predictable low-latency performance.
- Designing deployment, observability, monitoring, and operational tooling for production trading systems.
- Building secure infrastructure and implementing best practices across systems, cloud environments, and engineering workflows.
- Working closely with traders and quantitative researchers to translate research into robust production systems.
- Leading complex engineering projects from design through production deployment while maintaining high standards for reliability, performance, and code quality.
