- MD / DNB
- Senior Professor with requisite teaching and administrative experience
- Valid medical registration with appropriate medical council

- Experience as prescribed by NMC for the post of Professor
- Minimum required experience as Professor with demonstrated leadership, academic, and administrative capabilities

Job Description:

The Head of Department (HOD), is responsible for providing overall leadership, direction, and governance to the Department.



The role encompasses clinical excellence, academic leadership, administrative oversight, research promotion, and compliance with organisational standards in alignment with NMC regulations and the policies of the Medical College and Tertiary Care Teaching Hospital affiliated to a Deemed-to-be University.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

A. Clinical Leadership
- Overall responsibility for planning, delivery, and monitoring of clinical services in the Department of General Medicine.
- Ensure protected, ethical, evidence-based, and high-quality patient care in compliance with standards and hospital policies.
- Develop, implement, and periodically review departmental clinical protocols, SOPs, and care pathways.
- Oversee emergency services, inpatient wards, ICU coordination, and specialty clinics under General Medicine.
- Monitor clinical outcomes, mortality and morbidity data, and patient safety indicators.
