Job Purpose
The Purchase & BOQ Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQs), project cost estimates, procurement planning, vendor management, and ensuring timely purchase and delivery of materials while maintaining project budgets and quality standards.
Roles & Responsibilities
1. BOQ & Quantity Estimation
* Prepare detailed BOQs from architectural, structural, and interior drawings.
* Perform quantity take-offs for civil, interior, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and furniture works.
* Prepare cost estimates and project budgets.
* Update BOQs based on design revisions.
* Prepare tender BOQs and comparison statements.
* Verify quantities before procurement.
2. Procurement & Purchasing
* Float enquiries and obtain quotations from multiple vendors.
* Compare quotations and prepare comparative statements.
* Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
* Prepare Purchase Orders (POs).
* Ensure timely procurement of all project materials.
* Track purchase orders until delivery.
3. Vendor Management
* Develop and maintain a reliable vendor database.
* Evaluate supplier performance.
* Source recent vendors for better pricing and quality.
* Build long-term vendor relationships.
4. Cost Control
* Monitor procurement budgets.
* Identify cost-saving opportunities.
* Conduct market price analysis.
* Recommend value engineering alternatives without compromising quality.
5. Documentation & Reporting
* Maintain BOQ revisions.
* Keep records of quotations, purchase orders, invoices, and delivery challans.
* Prepare weekly procurement reports.
* Coordinate invoice verification with the accounts department.
6. Coordination
* Coordinate with architects, designers, site engineers, and project managers.
* Ensure materials reach the site as per project schedule.
