The Laser Cutting Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC laser cutting machines to produce high-quality metal components according to engineering drawings and production schedules. The operator ensures precision, quality, and safety while maximizing machine efficiency.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC laser cutting machines for cutting metal sheets and plates.
- Set up machines based on job specifications and production requirements.
- Load and unload raw materials using appropriate handling equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
- Select the correct cutting parameters, tools, and machine settings.
- Monitor cutting operations and make adjustments to ensure accuracy.
- Perform first-piece inspection and in-process quality checks.
- Measure finished parts using measuring instruments such as:
- Vernier Caliper
- Micrometer
- Steel Scale
- Height Gauge
- Remove burrs and inspect finished products before dispatch.
- Perform routine machine cleaning and preventive maintenance.
- Report machine malfunctions to the maintenance team promptly.
- Minimize material waste by optimizing sheet utilization.
- Maintain production records and daily machine logs.
- Follow 5S, safety standards, and company quality procedures.
- Work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to meet production targets.
Required Skills:
- Experience operating CNC Laser Cutting Machines (Fiber Laser/CO₂ Laser).
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Understanding of CNC machine settings and cutting parameters.
- Familiarity with nesting software is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of different materials such as:
- Mild Steel (MS)
- Stainless Steel (SS)
- Aluminum
- Copper
- Brass
- Positive troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer knowledge for machine operation and production reporting
