The Ultrasound Typist is responsible for accurately typing ultrasound reports as dictated by radiologists, ensuring timely report generation, maintaining patient confidentiality, and coordinating with the radiology team to deliver high-quality diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities
- Type ultrasound reports accurately from radiologist dictation or voice recordings.
- Ensure reports are free from spelling, grammar, and formatting errors.
- Verify patient details before preparing reports.
- Upload and update reports in the Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), or Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.
- Coordinate with radiologists regarding unclear dictations or report corrections.
- Prioritize urgent and emergency cases for faster report turnaround.
- Print, scan, and dispatch finalized reports as required.
- Maintain daily records of completed and pending reports.
- Assist in managing radiology documentation and archives.
- Report any software or system issues to the appropriate department.
Required Qualifications
- Higher Secondary (12th Pass), Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree.
- Certification in Medical Transcription or Medical Typing is preferred.
- Previous experience in a diagnostic center or hospital is an advantage.
Required Skills
- Excellent typing speed (minimum 4050 WPM preferred).
- Good knowledge of medical terminology, especially ultrasound and radiology terms.
- Strong English grammar and spelling skills.
- Familiarity with HIS/RIS/LIS software.
- Basic computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, email).
- Positive listening skills for understanding dictated reports.
- Attention to detail and high accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet turnaround times.
