What You'll Do

As a Sr Tax & Compliance Analyst, you will support Avalara's Premium Managed Returns service for customers with complex sales and use tax compliance requirements. Reporting to the Lead Tax Compliance, you will oversee a portfolio of premium customer accounts and ensure accurate, timely filings across multiple jurisdictions. You will help customers navigate complex compliance situations while building trusted relationships and delivering a high-quality service experience. You will also use AI-enabled tools and process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy. This is an onsite role based in Pune, India.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be
- You will oversee the end-to-end filing lifecycle for Premium customers, including the preparation, review, and submission of multi-jurisdictional sales and use tax returns
- Be the primary customer contact, offering solutions while managing complex compliance scenarios, reconciliations, data validation and jurisdiction-specific requirements




- You will resolve notices and compliance inquiries while improving turnaround times and reducing escalations
- Lead customer onboarding and data validation to provide a smooth transition into managed services
- Improve filing quality by strengthening validation controls, reducing rework, and addressing process gaps
- Partner with other teams to resolve operational issues and lead process improvements
- Be an expert for complex compliance matters while supporting team development and knowledge sharing
- Use AI-enabled tools to improve validation, notice research, customer communications, reporting and workflow management

What You’ll Need To Be Successful
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field and 3–5 years of sales and use tax compliance experience
- Experience managing multi-jurisdictional filings and complex compliance scenarios.
- Experience serving as the primary contact for customers and tax compliance processes, notice resolution.
