About us

Lucky Fours is a quick-growing premium watch ecommerce brand. We invest heavily in AI and automation across our internal operations — several AI systems are already in production, making decisions and doing real work company-wide every day. We didn't bolt AI onto existing workflows; we're rebuilding the operating layer of the company around it. We're now expanding that layer significantly, on an aggressive timeline, and hiring a second engineer to own a large piece of it.

The role

Forward deployed means embedded: you work directly with our Head of Operations and our AI engineer, in daily standups, shipping to production every day. No ticket queue, no sprint theater, no waiting for permission. You get a problem, you own it to production, and the company is using it by end of week.

Ownership here is the full vertical, and it's yours alone:
- The AI layer is yours.
You design the agents — what data they read, what they decide, what they're allowed to do autonomously, and where the human stays in the loop. You pick the model per task, write the prompts,



structure the tool use, and defend every choice with eval results, not vibes.
- The quality bar is yours.
Every agent you ship comes with an eval harness you built. When an agent regresses, you know before the team does — because you instrumented it that way.
- The stack underneath is yours.
Backend (Python/FastAPI, Postgres, Redis), frontend (React/Next.js), third-party integrations, deploys, cron workers, webhooks. Nobody provisions things for you. If it breaks at 4pm, it's fixed by 6pm and your changelog says so.
- Your own output is AI-leveraged.
We're AI-native internally too: you're expected to run AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) as a daily force multiplier, orchestrating parallel workstreams. One engineer here ships what a small team ships elsewhere, that's the job, and it's why the job is interesting.
