Core Responsibilities of the Resident Engineer
1. Platform Operations & Maintenance
- Monitor platform health, availability, performance, and overall system stability
- Perform daily operational checks, administration, and troubleshooting
- Manage software upgrades, firmware updates, patches, and lifecycle activities
- Ensure backup, storage, replication, and recovery services operate reliably
2. Support & Issue Resolution
- Troubleshoot platform, performance, connectivity, and operational issues
- Coordinate with vendor support for incident resolution and escalations
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and document corrective actions
- Validate fixes, upgrades, and post-maintenance system health
3. Capacity, Performance & Optimization
- Monitor capacity utilization and forecast future growth requirements
- Optimize system performance, resource utilization, and storage efficiency
- Support platform expansion, scaling, and infrastructure planning
- Recommend operational improvements and best practices

Architecture & Infrastructure Support
- Support platform architecture, design reviews, and infrastructure planning
- Ensure alignment with enterprise infrastructure, backup, storage, and business requirements
- Support high availability, replication, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives
- Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, virtualization, cloud, and application teams
5. Security & Compliance
- Manage platform security configurations, access controls, and authentication
- Support encryption, audit requirements, and compliance initiatives
- Assist with security assessments, vulnerability remediation, and risk mitigation
6. Automation, Documentation & Reporting
- Develop and maintain automation for operational tasks, health checks, and reporting
- Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge base articles
