Job Profile

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the implementation and maintenance of safety protocols within the pharmaceutical formulation plant. This role involves overseeing the safety of equipment, processes, and personnel, conducting safety training and ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate safety standards. The Safety Officer will work closely with various departments to ensure a safe and compliant working workplace.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fire Safety Management:

1. Oversee the timely servicing of fire extinguishers according to the established schedule.

2. Coordinate with authorized servicing agencies to update fire safety protocols as needed.

3. Conduct regular fire hydrant system trials in collaboration with plant staff.

2. Employee Induction and Training:

1. Conduct EHS induction programs for all new recruits, ensuring they are familiar with safety procedures specific to the formulation plant.

2. Develop and execute a training calendar for all plant personnel, ensuring adherence to EHS standards.

Create and update training materials, including SOPs and GMP guidelines, with a focus on plant safety.

3. Plant Safety Management:

1. Ensure that all machinery and equipment are operated in accordance with safety guidelines.

2. Implement and monitor safety procedures specific to the formulation processes, including handling of raw materials and finished products.

3. Conduct regular safety inspections of plant areas to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

4. Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) Management:

1. Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of the ETP.

2. Regularly monitor and ensure the quality of treated effluent meets regulatory standards.

5. Process Safety Management:

1. Monitor and ensure the safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals and other materials used in the formulation processes.
