Role Overview
The Automotive Test Engineer is responsible for validating CustomerSpecific Network Stack/System applications operating over Automotive data link layer to ensure compliance, interoperability, robustness, and performance across invehicle network architectures. The role focuses on endtoend data link layer validation from PHY to application layers in accordance with automotive standards and OEM requirements.
This position supports the delivery of safetycritical, realtime, and highreliability automotive networking system applications.
Required Skills with 3-5 years of experience -
Core Automotive Data Link Knowledge
- Strong understanding of Automotive communication protocols, including:
- Automotive Ethernet (IEEE 802.3, 100BASET1 / 1000BASET1)
- CAN / CAN FD
- LIN
- SAE J1939
- Solid grasp of Ethernet architecture, IEEE 802.3 standards, and TCP/IP fundamentals
- Clear understanding of the OSI model and protocol interactions across layers
- Knowledge of automotive ECU architectures, gateways, and domain controllers
Debugging & SystemLevel Expertise
- Ability to identify, analyse, and debug issues across:
- PHY, MAC, and Ethernet drivers
- CAN/LIN/J1939 stacks
- Firmware and application layers
- Understanding of interactions between network drivers, firmware, and applications
- Experience working in Linux and embedded systems environments
- Debugging using Trace32
Tools & HandsOn Experience
- Handson experience with automotive test and compliance tools such as:
- Vector tools (CANoe/CANalyzer for Ethernet, CAN, LIN, J1939)
- Compliance and traffic tools (e.g., Vector, Spirent)
- Proficiency in:
- Protocol analysers and packet sniffers (Wireshark, CANoe trace analysis)
- Traffic generators and communication adapters
- Experience analysing logs, traces, and packet captures to isolate defects
