We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically proficient Automotive Drafter to join our Design Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate 2D manufacturing and assembly drawings from 3D CAD models, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, and maintaining technical documentation throughout the product development lifecycle. The role requires close coordination with cross-functional teams to support efficient manufacturing and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed 2D manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, and part drawings from approved 3D CAD models.
- Develop production-ready engineering drawings in compliance with ASME Y14.5 / ISO GPS drafting standards.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T;), engineering tolerances, welding symbols, surface finish symbols, and manufacturing notes accurately.
- Perform basic tolerance stack-up analysis to validate manufacturability, fitment, and assembly requirements.
- Create, update, and maintain Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM)
and related engineering documentation.
- Revise drawings and documents based on Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Engineering Change Notices (ECN) while ensuring proper revision control.
- Coordinate with the Design, Production, Quality, Procurement, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to ensure drawing accuracy and timely release of documentation.
- Maintain engineering document control and ensure all released drawings comply with company standards and quality procedures.
- Support prototype development, validation builds, and production by providing timely drawing updates and technical documentation.
- Assist in standardizing drafting practices, templates, and documentation processes to improve engineering efficiency.
Required Technical Skills
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or Fusion 360.
- Exposure to CATIA or PTC Creo will be an added advantage.
