The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing health, safety, and environmental policies to ensure a safe workplace. The role involves conducting inspections, risk assessments, safety training, incident investigations, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Management
- Implement and monitor workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local occupational health and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits.
- Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Risk Assessment & Control
- Conduct risk assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
- Develop and implement control measures to mitigate risks.
- Review work permits and ensure protected work practices are followed.
Training & Awareness
- Conduct safety induction programs for new employees and contractors.
- Organize toolbox talks and safety awareness campaigns.
- Provide training on emergency response procedures and safe work practices.
Incident Investigation
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss events.
- Prepare incident reports and recommend preventive measures.
- Track corrective and preventive actions until closure.
Emergency Preparedness
- Assist in developing emergency response plans.
- Coordinate fire drills and evacuation exercises.
- Ensure emergency equipment is available and maintained.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain safety records, inspection reports, and training records.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly HSE reports.
- Monitor safety performance indicators and submit reports to management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
