Job Summary

The Librarian is responsible for managing the school library, maintaining library resources, promoting reading habits among students, and supporting teachers and students with academic and research materials. The Librarian ensures the library is an organized, welcoming, and resourceful learning workplace.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operations of the school library.

Maintain and organize books, journals, digital resources, and other learning materials.

Issue and receive library books and maintain accurate records.

Classify, catalogue, and shelve books using standard library systems.

Assist students and teachers in locating books and reference materials.

Promote reading habits through book fairs, reading clubs, storytelling sessions, and library activities.

Recommend and procure new books and educational resources.

Maintain discipline and ensure proper use of library facilities.

Prepare monthly and annual library reports and inventory records.

Coordinate with teachers to support classroom learning through library resources.

Ensure proper care,



repair, and weeding out of damaged or outdated books.

Support digital library initiatives and maintain library software, if applicable.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Library Science (B.Lib.Sc./M.Lib.Sc.) or an equivalent qualification.

Minimum 23 years of experience as a school librarian is preferred.

Knowledge of library management systems and digital resources.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Passion for reading and promoting literacy among students.
