The Lab Engineer is responsible for conducting, monitoring, and documenting all laboratory testing activities related to raw materials, in-process products, and finished bare pipes. The role ensures compliance with customer specifications, approved Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), QMS requirements, NABL guidelines, and applicable international standards. The position also manages laboratory equipment calibration, inspection certifications, testing reports, and coordination with Third Party Inspectors (TPI).
Key Responsibilities
1. Raw Material Inspection & Control
- Verify and review Raw Material Test Certificates (RMTC) and Raw Material Test Data Certificates (RMTDC) for incoming materials.
- Conduct raw material inspection and compliance verification as per applicable specifications and standards.
- Allocate internal identification numbers and maintain traceability records.
- Apply and maintain color coding systems for grade identification of raw materials.
- Review flux and welding wire test certificates in line with ASME Section II Part C and approved work instructions.
2. Sampling & Testing Activities
- Ensure availability and witnessing of Third-Party Inspection (TPI) agencies before initiating testing activities whenever required.
- Perform sampling of raw materials and finished pipes as per approved sampling plans.
- Conduct mechanical, chemical, metallurgical, and NACE testing in accordance with approved ITPs, QAPs, customer specifications, and applicable standards.
- Perform control testing on samples from each heat and selected finished pipes after completion of all Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities.
- Coordinate with the Machine Shop for preparation of test specimens as per relevant standards and testing requirements.
- Verify compliance of all test results prior to product release.
3. Inspection Certificates & Reporting
- Prepare Laboratory Test Reports and Inspection Certificates for finished product
