About the Organisation
A legacy, established player in India's railway infrastructure ecosystem with deep, long-standing ties to Indian Railways and RDSO. The company spans rail component manufacturing, precast technologies, and track infrastructure, and is scaling advanced condition-monitoring technology across 28+ live projects tied to India's high-speed rail expansion. It's building a multi-dimensional innovation lab covering AI/ML, embedded systems, IoT, and computer vision, benchmarking itself against global rail-tech leaders like China's AI/ML ecosystem.
Role Overview
The company needs a principal scientist to embed AI/ML into its railway condition-monitoring systems — building models that analyze high-speed camera footage of trains and tracks to detect faults like wheel defects and track damage. This is a ground-up build: transitioning the company from part-time consultant AI support to a full-time, in-house capability, with the scientist owning the technical roadmap for image-based safety systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design and build AI/ML models for machine vision analysis of high-speed train and track camera footage
Develop fault-detection algorithms for wheel defects, track deformation, and structural damage
Build predictive-maintenance systems translating real-time image/video feeds into actionable safety insights
Validate model outputs with rail engineering teams against RDSO-aligned safety standards
Lead the transition from part-time consultant support to a full-time, in-house AI/ML capability
