The
Data Ingestion Engineer
is responsible for the reliable onboarding and ingestion of data from source systems into the data platform. The role ensures that data flowing from operational, commercial, and customer systems is complete, timely, and trustworthy, providing a dependable foundation for analytics, reporting, and downstream data products across the organization.

Accountability & Responsibilities of Role
- Design, build, and maintain ingestion pipelines that onboard data from internal and external source systems using batch, streaming, and change data capture (CDC) patterns
- Establish and document standardized source-onboarding patterns that enable consistent, repeatable, and well-governed integration of new data sources
- Develop and operate API-based and event-driven ingestion using Azure Event Hubs and related streaming technologies
- Manage schema evolution from source systems, ensuring changes are detected, handled gracefully, and communicated to downstream consumers
- Monitor and assure data freshness, completeness, and accuracy,



defining and tracking operational metrics and service levels for ingestion
- Implement robust error handling, retry, alerting, and recovery mechanisms to ensure operational reliability and minimize data loss
- Own the raw ingestion layer of the platform, ensuring data is landed in a consistent, auditable, and reusable form
- Collaborate with source-system owners, transformation engineers, and platform teams to resolve data quality and connectivity issues at source
- Maintain explicit documentation of source connections, ingestion logic, data contracts, and operational runbooks
- Continuously improve ingestion performance, cost efficiency, and resilience, recommending pragmatic improvements to tooling and processes

Work Experience
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience in data engineering, with a demonstrable track record of building and operating production data ingestion pipelines
