To provide comprehensive medical care for newborns, infants, children, and adolescents by ensuring accurate diagnosis, timely treatment, preventive healthcare, emergency management, and family-centered care while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Outpatient (OPD) Services
- Examine and evaluate newborns, infants, children, and adolescents.
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic childhood illnesses.
- Monitor growth and developmental milestones.
- Provide nutritional assessment and counselling.
- Administer vaccinations as per the National Immunization Schedule.
- Educate parents regarding child health, hygiene, nutrition, and preventive care.
- Maintain complete OPD documentation and electronic medical records.
3. Newborn Care
- Perform complete newborn examination immediately after birth.
- Attend all normal and high-risk deliveries.
- Assess APGAR score and provide neonatal resuscitation when required.
- Manage neonatal jaundice, sepsis, respiratory distress, hypoglycaemia, and feeding difficulties.
- Encourage and support exclusive breastfeeding.
- Counsel parents regarding newborn care before discharge.
4. Delivery Room Responsibilities
- Attend deliveries as per hospital protocol.
- Receive newborn safely after delivery.
- Perform immediate neonatal assessment.
- Initiate neonatal resuscitation when indicated.
- Stabilize critically ill newborns before referral if required.
5. NICU Responsibilities (If Available)
- Manage premature and sick newborns.
- Interpret neonatal investigations.
- Monitor ventilator/CPAP-supported babies.
- Manage neonatal emergencies.
- Coordinate referrals to high
