Role & responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable SCADA applications using Ignition Designer, Perspective, and Vision modules
- Configure and manage Ignition Gateway, including security, redundancy, and performance tuning
- Develop and maintain Tag Providers, Tag Historian, Alarm Pipelines, and Transaction Groups
- Integrate Ignition with field devices such as PLCs, RTUs, and flow computers using protocols like Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA, MQTT, and DNP3
- Implement real-time data acquisition, event logging, and historian integration for operational insights and compliance
- Develop custom logic and UI enhancements using Ignition scripting (Python/Jython)
- Extend Ignition capabilities using Web Services (REST/SOAP) and Ignition SDK
- Develop custom modules or extensions using Ignition Module SDK, when required
- Design secure and scalable SCADA architectures aligned with ISA95, ISA88, and IEC 62443 standards
- Ensure adherence to cybersecurity best practices and data integrity standards
- Collaborate with automation, IT,
and operations teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions
- Prepare technical documentation, user manuals, and conduct knowledge transfer/training
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Instrumentation / Control / Electronics & Communication / Computer Science or related)
- 58 years of handson experience in Ignition SCADA (Gateway configuration, Designer, scripting)
- Gold Certification from Inductive Automation
- Handson experience with other SCADA platforms such as Wonderware InTouch, CygNet, AVEVA Enterprise, etc.
- Strong understanding of SCADA architecture, object-oriented design, and industrial automation systems
- Proficiency in Python/Jython, SQL, and Ignition Expression Language
- Exposure to PLC programming (Siemens, AllenBradley, Schneider, etc.) – positive to have
- Excellent problemsolving, communication, and documentation skills
