The Diploma Engineer Trainee (DET) in the Steel Melting Shop is responsible for learning and supporting steelmaking operations under the guidance of senior engineers. The trainee assists in monitoring production processes, maintaining product quality, ensuring equipment reliability, and following safety standards while gaining practical experience in steel manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the operation of Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), Induction Furnace (IF), or Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF), depending on the plant.
- Monitor process parameters such as temperature, chemical composition, and production efficiency.
- Support tapping, ladle treatment, and continuous casting operations.
- Record production data and prepare daily shift reports.
- Help identify process deviations and report them to supervisors.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality standards.
- Participate in preventive maintenance and equipment inspections.
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental (SHE) regulations.
- Maintain positive housekeeping practices (5S).
- Coordinate with production, maintenance, and quality assurance teams.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste.
