Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Assess, monitor, and record patients' vital signs.
- Administer medications, injections, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed.
- Assist consultants during rounds and implement treatment plans.
- Observe patients for any changes in condition and promptly report to the treating doctor.
- Maintain accurate nursing documentation and patient records.
Clinical Procedures
- Assist in wound dressing, catheterization, IV cannulation, blood sample collection, and other nursing procedures.
- Prepare patients for investigations, procedures, and surgeries.
- Ensure aseptic techniques and infection control practices are followed.
- Maintain patient safety and prevent falls or medication errors.
Operation Theatre (if posted)
- Prepare OT before surgeries.
- Assist surgeons and anesthetists during procedures.
- Maintain sterility throughout surgical procedures.
- Count surgical instruments, sponges, and needles before and after surgery.
- Ensure proper cleaning and sterilization of OT instruments.
ICU / Emergency (if posted)
- Monitor critically ill patients.
- Operate and monitor equipment such as monitors, syringe pumps, infusion pumps, suction apparatus, and oxygen delivery systems.
- Assist in emergency resuscitation (CPR) and trauma management.
- Prepare emergency medications and equipment.
Patient & Family Education
- Explain medications, rehabilitation, and discharge instructions.
- Counsel patients regarding follow-up visits and physiotherapy.
- Educate patients on infection prevention and home care.
Documentation
- Maintain nursing notes accurately.
- Record medication administration.
- Prepare discharge summaries and nursing handover reports.
- Report adverse events and incidents according to hospital policy.
Infection Control
- Follow hand hygiene protocols.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PP
