Role Description:

The Scratch Mentor – Remote role is a part-time position focused on teaching coding fundamentals to children using Scratch and related visual programming tools. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering online lessons, guiding students through projects, and helping them understand core programming concepts such as loops, conditionals, events, and variables. The mentor will provide constructive feedback, encourage creativity and problem solving,



and maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment in each session. The role also involves tracking student progress, communicating with caregivers when needed, and collaborating with the Codeyoung team to align sessions with curriculum goals. This is a fully remote role, requiring reliable internet access and comfort with virtual classroom tools.

Qualifications:


- Strong understanding of Scratch or similar block-based coding platforms and basic programming concepts.
- Experience teaching, mentoring, or working with children or teens in an educational or coaching setting.
- Clear and engaging communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics in age-appropriate language.
- Ability to conduct interactive, student-centric online classes and manage small groups in a virtual setting.
- Comfort with using video conferencing tools, online learning platforms, and digital collaboration tools.
