About the team

This hire is for the newly formed, 'Climate Studio' team at Alt Carbon, in Bangalore. We have classic 0-1 problems to solve. Climate change is real. We're on a mission to remove 5 million tonnes of CO2 by 2030. Every organisation must play its part to meet net-zero emissions by 2050. We're looking for folks who are determined to create impact with the work they do.

Role Overview

The Film editor will report to the Head of Brand. This is a hands-on role, and will involve shooting and editing for video, creative animation, and ideating on strategies to make climate change real and actionable. The content will be primarily for our external owned media channels, helping build the brand quotient for Alt Carbon.

The ideal candidate should be adept at shooting, lighting, video editing skills, comfortable with writing, and manage production end-to-end. Video is a huge charter and we're looking for someone with exceptional video editing skills to join the team. The person can eventually build a team once we hit a certain cadence, or engage with freelancers for all the work needed to create a high quality video storytelling proposition for Alt Carbon.

What You'll Do





- Own our video channels - primary focus on editing high quality video content that can be shared across social channels.
- Editing short, high-impact videos (15s-60s) from existing footage and create new footage from stock, and the ones we shoot.
- We're looking for someone who has taste with regard to fast editing, quick cuts, and has the knowledge and AI tools to ship compelling video stories.
- Own long-form storytelling via video - think documentaries, and longer videos around the space we operate in
- Create a steady cadence of short-form video content that can go on social channels - particularly Instagram and Youtube.
- Create a plug-n-play podcast studio for alt carbon in Darjeeling. Drive the whole design and build the aesthetic for the room.

What We're Looking For

- Should have at least 5+ years experience - samples of past work is mandatory.
- Skilled in video editing software (Premiere Pro, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, or similar)
- Understands video production gear - from cameras, lighting, sound etc...
- Understands pacing, jump cuts, and dynamic text/graphic overlays
- Cued into social media-understands what works on YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok
- An eye for snackable content that grabs attention - climate change is real, but also abstract. How can we change this narrative with compelling content, without scaremongering.
- Engagement-focused-knows how to create content that sparks views, shares, and interactions
- The ability to use data and research to shape a narrative - samples of past work helps.
- A strong social media profile and knowledge of tools that help accelerate reach and engagement in social media - please add references of this.
- Tech-savvy - current editing tools, stock footage, ability to use modern video tools.
