The Sr R2 Engineer will drive resiliency engineering and incident resolution for complex microservices based applications running on Kubernetes and OpenShift in a hybrid work model. Responsibilities
- Lead end to end resiliency engineering initiatives across microservices based platforms using Resiliency Studio and Gremlin to ensure highly available and fault tolerant applications for global customers
- Drive chaos experimentation with tools such as Pumba to validate system behavior under failure scenarios and translate findings into actionable improvements that strengthen business critical services
- Oversee performance profiling and memory analysis activities with Yourkit to identify bottlenecks and implement optimizations that enhance response times and user satisfaction
- Provide advanced support for event driven architectures using Rabbit MQ ensuring reliable message delivery and robust queuing patterns that support core business workflows
- Manage and optimize data persistence layers across PostgreSQL and SQL Server focusing on query tuning index strategies and schema improvements to deliver consistent and scalable performance
- Coordinate deployment and runtime operations on Kubernetes and OpenShift ensuring resilient configuration rollout strategies and effective use of container orchestration capabilities
- Execute deep observability and monitoring practices leveraging App Dynamics New Relic Dynatrace and Splunk to detect anomalies proactively and drive rapid incident resolution
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to design and refine resilient microservices patterns on AWS that align with organizational standards and deliver secure scalable and maintainable solutions
- Perform root cause analysis for production incidents and near misses documenting findings and driving systemic remediation that improves reliability and reduces future disruptions
- Develop and maintain runbooks resilience playbooks and operational guidelines that enable consistent incident handling and empower teams to respond effectively to complex scenarios
- Coordinate non production and production validations for resilience and performance ensuring that releases meet defined service level objectives and support dependable customer experiences
- Engage with stakeholders to prioritize resiliency and observability backlog items connecting technical improvements with measurable business value and societal impact through dependable digital services
- Guide continuous improvement of hybrid work practices within the R2 function ensuring effective collaboration knowledge sharing and adherence to day shift expectations
Qualifications
- Demonstrate extensive hands on experience in resiliency engineering using Resiliency Studio Gremlin and Pumba to design execute and interpret chaos experiments in complex distributed systems
- Show strong proficiency working with modern microservices architectures and container platforms including Kubernetes and OpenShift with a focus on reliability scalability and operational excellence
- Apply deep knowledge of observability and monitoring tools such as App Dynamics New Relic Dynatrace and Splunk to build meaningful dashboards alerts and metrics for production systems
- Bring advanced expertise in Rabbit MQ PostgreSQL and SQL Server including messaging design database tuning and troubleshooting to ensure stable and performant data and integration layers
- Exhibit solid experience with AWS services relevant to microservices and resilience such as compute storage networking and managed databases while following cloud best practices
- Utilize performance analysis skills with Yourkit and similar tools to diagnose complex application issues and implement code or configuration improvements that enhance efficiency
