The WMS Implementation Advisor will be responsible for assessing our existing warehouse operations and providing practical guidance on the selection, design, implementation and rollout of a suitable WMS solution.

The ideal candidate should have personally implemented, managed, operated or developed WMS/inventory management systems and should be able to translate warehouse requirements into practical technology and process solutions.

We are specifically looking for a hands-on professional with real implementation experience, rather than someone with only theoretical or academic knowledge of WMS.

Key Responsibilities

1. Warehouse Process Assessment

- Assess the existing warehouse structure, processes and inventory practices.
- Identify operational gaps and opportunities for digitisation.
- Understand current receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch and stock-transfer processes.
- Recommend improvements based on industry best practices.

2. Warehouse & Location Architecture

- Design an appropriate rack, shelf, bin and location structure.
- Develop a logical SKU-to-location mapping system.
- Recommend suitable location coding and identification methods.
- Advise on optimising warehouse space and inventory accessibility.

3. WMS Evaluation & Selection

- Identify and evaluate suitable WMS platforms for the company's operational requirements.
- Compare different WMS solutions based on functionality, scalability, cost and implementation complexity.
- Advise on build vs. buy decisions.
- Participate in vendor discussions, product demonstrations and technical evaluations.
- Support vendor negotiations and implementation planning.

4. Inventory Digitisation & Data Migration

- Plan physical stock counting and reconciliation.
- Develop an approach for opening inventory verification and data migration.
- Establish SKU master-data requirements.
- Advise on inventory categorisation, SKU coding and location mapping.
- Ensure data accuracy during migration to the new WMS.

5. Warehouse Workflow Design

Design and document appropriate workflows for:

- Goods receiving
- Inwarding and verification
- Put-away
- Bin allocation
- Picking
- Packing
- Dispatch
- Stock transfers
- Returns
- Cycle counting
- Stock adjustments
- Damaged/blocked inventory management

6. Barcode / RFID Implementation

- Evaluate the suitability of barcode, QR code and RFID technologies.
- Recommend the appropriate scanning and identification approach for the warehouse.
- Advise on hardware, scanning processes and operational requirements.

Multi-Location Inventory Management

- Design processes for real-time inventory visibility across the central warehouse and 24 retail stores.
- Establish warehouse-to-store and store-to-store transfer workflows.
- Develop processes for tracking stock in transit.
- Recommend controls for inventory reconciliation between locations.

8. Inventory Control

- Develop appropriate processes for:
- FIFO management
- Stock ageing
- Batch management, where applicable
- Inward-date tracking
- Stock reconciliation
- Cycle counting
- Inventory adjustments
- Shrinkage and discrepancy control

9. E-commerce & System Integration

- Advise on integration requirements between the WMS and e-commerce/marketplace platforms.
- Assess inventory synchronisation requirements.
- Advise on ERP, POS, marketplace and other system integrations.
- Identify potential integration challenges and operational dependencies.

10. Implementation Planning

- Provide realistic estimates for implementation timelines and project phases.
- Identify implementation costs, resource requirements and dependencies.
- Highlight potential risks and common WMS implementation failures.
- Develop a practical implementation and rollout plan.
- Support the company during vendor onboarding and system rollout.

Required Experience & Skills

- Proven experience in WMS implementation, warehouse digitisation or inventory system implementation.
- Hands-on experience with at least one modern WMS, ERP-WMS or inventory management platform.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations and inventory control.
- Experience with barcode-based and/or bin-level warehouse management.
- Understanding of SKU master data and warehouse location architecture.
- Experience with multi-location inventory management.
- Knowledge of WMS integrations with ERP, POS and/or e-commerce platforms.
- Strong understanding of warehouse process mapping and optimisation.
- Ability to evaluate WMS vendors and identify suitable technology solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.




- Ability to explain technical solutions in practical business terms.

Candidate Assessment

To be considered, candidates should share the following information:

1. Details of one or more WMS implementations personally handled.
2. Company/warehouse size and approximate SKU volume.
3. Candidate's specific role and responsibilities in the implementation.
4. WMS, ERP or inventory platforms worked with directly.
5. Major implementation challenges encountered and how they were resolved.
6. Experience with barcode,RFID, bin management and inventory migration.
7. Availability for a full-time engagement.
8. Expected salary/consulting rate.
9. Current location and willingness to undertake on-site warehouse visits in Delhi NCR.

Important Note

This is a full time paid engagement and is intended for professionals with genuine, hands-on WMS implementation or warehouse systems experience.

Compensation

1,00,000 per month Negotiable, depending on relevant experience and expertise.

On-site Requirement: Periodic/required warehouse visits in Delhi NCR
