- Teaching & Instruction: Deliver lectures, design syllabi, and conduct laboratory sessions for undergraduate, graduate, or medical students in microbiology, immunology, and related life sciences.
- Research & Scholarship: Conduct original research on microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, fungi), manage lab experiments, and analyze molecular data.
- Publication & Funding: Write scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and apply for external or institutional research grants.
- Student Mentoring: Advise students on academic performance, supervise research projects, and guide laboratory safety practices.
- Service & Administration: Participate in faculty meetings, university committees, and curriculum development initiatives.
Eligibility & Qualifications
- Education: A Ph.D. or Master of Science (M.Sc.)
in Microbiology or a related life sciences discipline. For medical college positions, an MBBS followed by an MD in Microbiology (registered with appropriate medical councils like the NMC) may be required.
- Exams / Certification: Qualification in national-level eligibility tests (such as NET/SLET) where mandated by regional governing bodies.
- Experience: Post-doctoral research experience or prior teaching experience is strongly preferred and often required.
- Skills: Proficiency in advanced laboratory instruments, data analysis, grant writing, and effective classroom communication.
