Sales and Marketing Manager | Fish Welfare Initiative

Fish Welfare Initiative is hiring a Sales and Marketing Manager to establish and scale a program on feed fortification for aquaculture fish farms. If you have field sales or business development experience at a feed company and are passionate about animal welfare, this could be the right role for you.

Responsibilities

- Feed Mill Relationship - Establishment: Identify and build strong relationships with feed mills that will produce the feed required for our fortified feed program. Set up MoUs and get them signed.
- Feed Mill Relationship - Maintenance: Over time, develop strong trust with feed mill representatives to maintain relationships. Ensure mills comply with production requirements and oversee quality checks.
- Feed Mill Relationship - Strategic production guidance: Based on production and consumption volumes, determine the required number of mills to be engaged and engage new mills as necessary.
- Feed Mill Relationship - Quality assurance: Ensure mills comply with production requirements and oversee quality checks.
- Feed Marketing - Strategic guidance: In partnership with other team members, develop marketing strategies to ensure sufficient farmer uptake of our fortified feed.
- Feed Marketing - Strategy implementation: Lead marketing projects and develop relevant materials. This may include organizing events, recruiting model farms, and similar.
- Feed Marketing - Event Representation: Attend industry fairs and similar events to advertise our fortified feed formulation and connect with relevant stakeholders.




- Feed Distribution - Trader/Dealer relationships: Build, maintain, and expand relationships with traders and dealers who could act as feed distributors.
- Feed Distribution - Exploration of other distribution channels: The price increase caused by trader/dealer involvement may inhibit uptake of our fortified feed. Alternative distribution channels may be more promising to keep costs low. You are responsible for coming up with these, implementing them, and evaluating their cost-effectiveness.
- Feed Distribution - Monitoring of existing channels: Ensure that the farmers who are buying our feed receive it within the agreed-upon timeframe. Own FWI's feed delivery efforts and facilitate smooth operations.
- Farmer Relationships - Building and Maintenance: Become embedded in the farming community and build a solid network of farmers to get them interested in purchasing fortified feed. Tend to existing farmer relationships while building new relationships.
- Farmer Relationships - Assistance on Incentive Management: Assist other team members responsible for developing and executing incentive structures (e.g., water quality monitoring visits), as needed.
- Farmer Relationships - Scoping: Assist with scoping of new regions and farmer communities,



as needed.

Requirements
- Experience: 3+ years of field sales or business development experience at an aquaculture feed company (ideally in Andhra).
- Language: You are fluent in Telugu and, ideally, proficient in written and oral English.
- Travel requirements: You should expect to travel extensively for this role.
- Driving license: You have a valid driver's license and are comfortable driving a motorbike/scooter on unpaved roads.
- Location/flexibility: Based in Andhra Pradesh and requires extensive travel within the state. You would ideally relocate to our field office in Eluru when you're not traveling.

Desired Skills and Experience
- Local network: You have strong relationships within the Andhra Pradesh feed mill industry and fish farming communities. Experience in other states is a plus.
- Relationship building: You build and maintain key relationships to drive forward the department's work.
- High agency: You actively contribute your ideas to help build this program. You are proactive and able to develop your own schedule to achieve outcomes.
- Openness to change: Taking the lean start-up approach, you test ideas quickly and adapt based on what we learn. You move fast, reassess often, and are willing to drop ideas that don't work.
