Job Description: Production Engineer - Assembly Shop

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Production Engineer with specialized experience in managing and executing assembly operations within the Pharmaceutical Machinery Manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will oversee the mechanical and electrical assembly of high-precision pharma equipment (such as blistering machines, cartoning machines, liquid/powder filling lines, and tablet presses), ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory standards (cGMP, FDA, ISO) and production timelines.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assembly & Shop Floor Operations

- Manage end-to-end assembly operations for complex pharmaceutical machinery in accordance with engineering drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Coordinate mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical assembly processes on the shop floor.
- Monitor daily production targets, track assembly milestones, and minimize equipment downtime or bottlenecks.

2. Quality Control & Compliance

- Ensure all assembled machinery adheres to international regulatory and quality standards (cGMP, CE, ISO, and OSHA).
- Conduct rigorous in-process quality checks (IPQC) for fitment, alignment, and functionality before handing over equipment for FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing).
- Maintain accurate documentation, including machine assembly logs, calibration records, and checklist verifications.

3. Process Optimization & Lean Manufacturing

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, 5S,



and Kaizen methodologies on the assembly floor to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical assembly issues on the shop floor and implement root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrence.
- Optimize cycle times for machine assembly and sub-assembly processes.

4. Team Leadership & Coordination

- Supervise, train, and mentor assembly technicians, fitters, and contract laborers.
- Coordinate closely with the Design/R&D;, Quality Assurance (QA), Supply Chain, and Project Management departments to ensure seamless material flow and technical clarifications.
- Ensure strict adherence to plant safety guidelines and promote a safety-first culture among the shop floor team.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Education: Bachelors Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Production Engineering.
- Experience: 2 to 4 years of hands-on production and assembly experience specifically within the Pharma Machinery Manufacturing or high-precision special purpose machinery (SPM) sector.
- Technical Competencies:

- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, P&ID;, and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical validation processes (DQ, IQ, OQ, FAT, SAT).
- Hands-on experience with pneumatic systems, drives, PLCs, and precision mechanical alignment.
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP software (SAP/Oracle preferred).

- Soft Skills: Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work under tight project deadlines.
