Work experience
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in embedded software development, with at least 2 years in medical device industry.
- Proven experience in developing embedded software on different target platforms with exposure to RTOS.
- Comfortable to work on C++
- Good knowledge on IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971
Objective of the Function:
The Sr. Engineer – Embedded Software” is tasked with leading the design, development, and maintenance of both new and existing software products associated with transfusion, cell therapies, and infusion technology. This role requires robust technical skills, regulatory requirement expertise, a proactive attitude towards product development, and a deep commitment to enhancing the user experience through effective engineering practices.
Main tasks:
- Responsible for the design of a module/project, makes design choices for new product development, sustenance activities, field issue resolution etc.
- Works closely with Architect, and contributes to product architecture design
- Identifies technical problems, provides innovative, creative solutions and shares technical knowledge with team.
- Contributes to SW risk assessment and mitigates it
- Adhere to non-functional requirement while designing and implementing SW modules
- Reviews and approves the design of a SW module
- Follow IEC 62304 process based SDLC
- Owns Requirements Traceability Matrix and keeps it up to date
- Review work products and ensure the quality of deliverables
- Provides input to the test strategies at a product level
- Provides guidance to development and test teams with respect to overall design and development.
- Leads and coaches the team members.
- Follows the principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and testing techniques.
- Contributes to continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps.
- Work and collaborate closely with Project Manager and Architect to define and solve engineering changes/problems to make products that meet all performance and functional criteria within required project schedule, with minimum guidance.
- Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective / Preventive action as needed.
Other tasks: Any additional responsibility as deemed necessary.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics related Engineering field
Skills
- Deep understanding of Real time systems, ARM architecture, operating systems, device drivers, memory management, multithreading, and real-time scheduling.
- Deep understanding and working experience with embedded technologies.
- Excellent embedded software development skills using C, C++ and basic Python.
- Good experience with low level device drivers and communication protocols for peripherals such as SPI, I2C, UART, BLE and WIFI.
- Good experience with RTOS (preferably Azure or FreeRTOS).
- Experience with embedded development boards such as STM32, NXP.
- Hands-on with development environment and tools such as IAR, STMCubeMX, Jlink, STLink.
- Exposure to Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms and model-based development using MATLAB.
- Good understanding of safety-critical software principles with experience in medical or other highly regulated industries.
