ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced and technically accomplished Manager to lead the operations of our Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) division. The candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management of a 4-strand, 6/11-metre CCM supplied by Concast India, ensuring the production of defect-free billets that meet the stringent quality standards required for direct hot-rolling into TMT bars.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Oversee daily operations of the 6/11 CCM (Concast India make, 4-strand) ensuring smooth, uninterrupted continuous casting.
- Manage and optimise automatic water-pressure / secondary cooling systems to produce high-quality, crack-free billets.
- Ensure zero-defect billet quality eliminate crack, piping, and mouth-open defects before billets enter the rolling mill for hot-rolling into TMT bars.
- Plan, schedule, and execute preventive and breakdown maintenance of CCM equipment, ancillary machinery, and plant utilities.
- Maintain all machinery in optimum working condition; maintain maintenance logs, spare-parts inventory, and AMC schedules.
- Manage contract labour workforce mobilise, deploy, supervise, and release contract workers as per production requirements.




- Liaise with manpower requirements and ensure adequate skilled workforce availability at all times.
- Coordinate with the Rolling Mill team to align billet quality parameters with hot-rolling requirements.
- Monitor and control process parameters casting speed, temperature, mould oscillation, and cooling-water flow.
- Implement and enforce safety, health, and environmental (SHE) standards across the CCM floor.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield, reduce downtime, and enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Prepare and present daily, weekly, and monthly production and maintenance MIS reports to senior management.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Hands-on experience operating and maintaining a 4-strand or multi-strand Continuous Casting Machine (CCM).
- Deep knowledge of Concast India CCM equipment mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in secondary cooling / automatic water-pressure control systems for billet quality optimisation.
- Strong understanding of steel metallurgy solidification behaviour, billet microstructure, and common casting defects (cracks, piping, segregation).
- Experience in hot-rolling quality requirements understanding downstream rolling-mill defect sensitivities.




- Expertise in plant maintenance practices TPM, breakdown analysis, root-cause analysis, and FMEA.
- Familiarity with refractory management, tundish preparation, and ladle operations.
- Working knowledge of contract labour laws and workforce management in a heavy-industry environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

- B.E. / B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering OR B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in CCM / continuous casting operations in a steel plant
- Demonstrated experience in independently running a 4-strand (or higher) caster machine

Preferred:

- M.Tech / M.E. (Metallurgy / Mechanical) or equivalent post-graduate qualification
- Prior experience with Concast India CCM equipment specifically
- Exposure to ERP / production-management systems
