Position Summary

The Principal will provide academic, administrative and creative leadership to the School of Photography overseeing curriculum delivery, faculty development, student outcomes, industry linkages and NAAC/UGC compliance, while positioning the school as a centre of excellence in photographic education and practice.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Leadership

- Lead curriculum design,revision and delivery in line with NEP 2020, UGC and university guidelines
- Ensure quality of teaching, studio practice, assessment and student learning outcomes
- Promote research, publication, exhibitions and creative practice among faculty and students
- Introduce contemporary specialisations digital imaging, cinematography, photojournalism, fashion and commercial photography, AI-assisted imaging

Administration & Governance

- Manage day-to-day school operations, academic calendar, timetables and examinations
- Oversee budgeting, resource planning, studio/lab infrastructure and equipment procurement
- Ensure statutory compliance and readiness for NAAC, UGC and accreditation audits
- Maintain records, MIS and reporting to university leadership

Faculty & Student Development

- Recruit, mentor and appraise faculty; drive faculty development programmes
- Ensure effective student mentoring,



grievance redressal and discipline
- Strengthen placements, internships and industry mentorship

Industry, Outreach & Growth

- Build partnerships with studios, media houses, agencies, galleries and photography associations
- Drive admissions, student enrolment and institutional branding
- Organise exhibitions,workshops, masterclasses, festivals and guest lectures by eminent photographers
- Explore consultancy, certificate courses and revenue-generating initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

- Ph.D. in Photography, Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Applied Arts, Mass Communication or a related discipline
- Minimum 15 years of teaching / research / qualified experience, of which at least 10 years at Associate Professor level or equivalent
- Proven record of academic administration and accreditation experience

Desirable

- Experience leading a school,department or institute of art, design, media or photography
- Strong command of digital workflow, colour management, post-production and studio lighting
- Familiarity with NAAC/NBA processes, NEP 2020 and outcome-based education
- Established network across the photography, media and creative industries
