Job Summary

In this role, you will:

- Architect, design, and develop features related to OpenEdge Development Tools, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Lead the evolution of development features, enhancing performance, usability, and diagnostic capabilities.
- Drive the integration of AI-powered features within the OpenEdge Developer Tools ecosystem and understanding of RAG, MCP etc.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the development team, applying systems thinking to solve business and technical problems while ensuring adherence to best coding and design practices.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, QA, and UX teams to deliver robust, scalable, and user-centric solutions.
- Analyze and optimize performance issues using profiling tools and diagnostic frameworks.
- Ensure quality and maintainability through automated testing, code reviews, and continuous integration pipelines.
- Stay current with emerging technologies in IDE tooling, AI-assisted development, andperformance optimization.
- Adhere to Agile practices and methodologies, actively participating in all Agile ceremonies.

Your background:

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required.
- 6+ years of qualified experience in a product development organization, with a strong background in designing and delivering scalable, high-quality software solutions.
- Proficient in Java, with openness to learn and adopt other relevant technologies such as JavaScript and TypeScript.
- Proven experience in developing VS Code extensions or Eclipse plugins, with solid understanding of Language Server Protocol (LSP) and Debug Adapter Protocol (DAP).




- Strong foundation in web development, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, RESTful services, and modern front-end frameworks such as React or Angular.
- Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design, and software architecture principles.
- Strong knowledge of database concepts, query optimization, and performance tuning for scalability and reliability.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar, leveraging them to enhance productivity, testing, and documentation workflows.
- Familiarity with Node.js and modern JavaScript frameworks used in IDE tooling or developer platforms.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and version control systems such as Git.
- Expertise in profiling, diagnostics, and memory performance optimization on the JVM or similar platforms.
- Awareness of software security best practices and ability to identify, assess, and mitigate vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10, dependency scanning, secure coding standards).
- Experience applying static and dynamic analysis tools to ensure code and dependency security.
- Comfortable working on both Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate within cross-functional teams to design, plan, and deliver new features.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to apply systems thinking to technical and business challenges.
- Commitment to Agile practices and methodologies, actively participating in Agile ceremonies and promoting continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
