Job Title: Director, Engineering Manager DevOps

I. Job Summary

The Director, Engineering Manager DevOps will lead the developer experience and DevOps engineering function from the Hyderabad Global Capability Center (GCC). This role is responsible for building and scaling the platforms, tooling, and infrastructure that power modern software delivery across the enterprise.

This position combines DevOps and platform engineering leadership with GCC build-out responsibilities, focusing on establishing robust CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes infrastructure, GitOps workflows, and observability systems. The role ensures engineers can build, deploy, and operate software efficiently within a secure, reliable, and regulated environment.

The Director will play a key role in shaping Hyderabad as a strategic engineering hub, while partnering with cross-functional teams across India and the United States to drive engineering excellence, reliability, and innovation.

II. Key Responsibilities

GCC Leadership & Build-Out

Support the establishment and scaling of the Hyderabad GCC as a strategic engineering hub
Build and lead a high-performing DevOps and developer experience engineering team
Define operating models enabling seamless collaboration across India and U.S. teams
Foster a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and continuous improvement
Contribute to talent attraction, retention, and development strategies

Global Team Leadership

Lead DevOps and infrastructure engineering teams across geographies
Collaborate with U.S.-based stakeholders, engineering, and product teams
Drive alignment on priorities, communication, and execution across time zones
Build a cohesive one team culture across distributed teams

DevOps Platform & Architecture Leadership

Define and drive the architecture and strategy for developer platforms, CI/CD systems, and infrastructure
Enable cloud-native software delivery across Kubernetes-based environments (Azure AKS)
Establish best practices for GitOps workflows, containerization, and deployment automation
Ensure systems are secure, scalable, reliable, and compliant
Make strategic decisions around tooling, platforms, and infrastructure investments





CI/CD & GitOps Engineering

Design and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions
Implement GitOps workflows using ArgoCD and Helm across multiple environments
Ensure deployment repeatability, traceability, and rollback capabilities
Maintain deployment configurations and release management standards

Kubernetes & Cloud Platform Operations

Manage Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters and environments
Implement container orchestration, autoscaling (KEDA/HPA), and resource governance
Manage RBAC, network policies, and secure cluster configurations
Oversee service mesh implementations for traffic management and observability
Manage container lifecycle and security across registries and pipelines

Infrastructure as Code & Automation

Lead infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and configuration tools like Ansible
Manage secure secrets handling with Azure Key Vault or HashiCorp Vault
Enforce infrastructure policies and compliance using Azure Policy or OPA/Gatekeeper
Drive automation to reduce toil and improve operational efficiency

Observability, Reliability & Incident Management

Establish monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks
Implement distributed tracing (OpenTelemetry, Jaeger, Application Insights)
Lead incident response processes, root cause analysis (RCA), and postmortems
Ensure high system availability, performance, and reliability

Security & Compliance

Enforce DevSecOps best practices including scanning, threat detection, and access control
Integrate security tools within CI/CD pipelines
Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements in financial environments
Collaborate with security teams to establish secure engineering practices

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Developer Experience

Partner with Product, Engineering, SRE, and Platform teams to enable smooth delivery




Improve developer productivity through platform tooling and self-service capabilities
Drive standardization, documentation, and knowledge-sharing practices
Evaluate and adopt contemporary tools and technologies for continuous improvement

III. Required Qualifications

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Significant experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or infrastructure engineering
Proven experience leading engineering teams and driving technical strategy

Technical Expertise

Hands-on experience with:

- Azure cloud platform (AKS, networking, storage, monitoring)

- CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)

- GitOps (ArgoCD, Helm)

- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)

- Container technologies and Kubernetes orchestration

Strong knowledge of:

- Distributed systems and cloud-native architecture

- Observability tools (Prometheus, Application Insights, Splunk, OpenTelemetry)

- Security best practices in DevOps environments

Leadership & Organizational Experience

Proven ability to lead and scale engineering teams
Experience driving technical design reviews and engineering standards
Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
Experience working with globally distributed teams, especially across India and the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd)
Familiarity with serverless architectures (Azure Functions, Logic Apps)
Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ
Knowledge of databases: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, Redis
Experience in financial services or regulated industries
Relevant certifications (Azure, Kubernetes, DevOps)
