- Dispense prescribed medications accurately, including eye drops, ointments, and oral drugs
- Verify prescriptions for dosage, frequency, and drug interactions
- Ensure proper labeling and instructions for use
2. Patient Counseling
- Educate patients on correct use of eye drops, ointments, and post-surgical medications
- Explain dosage schedules, storage requirements, and possible side effects
- Guide patients on hygiene practices to avoid eye infections
3. Inventory Management
- Maintain adequate stock of ophthalmic medicines and surgical supplies
- Monitor expiry dates and ensure proper storage conditions (especially temperature-sensitive drugs)
- Coordinate with suppliers for timely procurement
4. Compliance & Safety
- Follow hospital policies, pharmacy laws, and regulatory guidelines
- Maintain records of narcotic and scheduled drugs as per regulations
- Ensure proper disposal of expired or damaged medicines
5. Coordination
- Work closely with ophthalmologists, nurses, and OT staff
- Support in preparing medications for surgical procedures
- Assist in managing emergency drug requirements
6. Documentation
- Maintain prescription records and billing details
- Keep updated logs of stock, purchases, and dispensing
- Prepare reports as required by hospital management
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm)
- Valid registration with State Pharmacy Council
Experience:
- 1-3 years (experience in hospital or ophthalmic pharmacy preferred
