Role Description

In Advisor Services Technology, we are seeking a driven, results-oriented Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) who shares our passion for technology, innovation, and excellence. This role combines hands-on coding with direct support for the teams technical delivery, working alongside engineers responsible for the full software development lifecycle to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality, secure, and reliable product releases.

As an SDET, you will play a critical role in building quality into the development process from the start, partnering closely with Engineering, Product, and Architecture to design, automate, and execute robust testing strategies that enhance speed, quality, and confidence in delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Test Strategy & Quality Engineering
Design and implement test approaches aligned to user stories, acceptance criteria, and business workflows.
Proactively identify risks, gaps, and dependencies to ensure comprehensive coverage across functional and non-functional requirements.

Hands-on Test Automation & Development
Develop and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and reusable test assets across UI, API, and backend layers.
Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and rapid feedback.

Execution & Validation
Execute automated and manual tests, validate system behavior, and ensure defects are identified, tracked, and resolved efficiently.
Perform regression, integration, and system validation to maintain consistent release quality and stability.

Agile Collaboration & Delivery Support
Partner with developers and product owners to refine requirements, improve testability, and ensure clarity of acceptance criteria.
Actively contributes to Agile ceremonies, embedding quality considerations throughout planning and execution.





Quality Advocacy & Continuous Improvement
Champion a shift-left, build quality in mindset across the team.
Analyze defects and quality trends to drive improvements in tools, frameworks, and engineering practices.

Release Readiness & Environment Support
Support system demos, release validation, and production triage to ensure reliable deployments.
Partner with engineering teams to proactively reduce defects and improve overall system stability.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proven experience in software development and test engineering, with strong hands-on coding skills in languages such as Java, C#, Python, or similar.
- Experience designing and implementing automated test frameworks across UI, API, and backend layers.
- Strong understanding of Agile development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps tooling.
- Solid knowledge of test-driven development (TDD), continuous testing, and shift-left quality practices.
- Experience leveraging AI-driven testing tools and automation frameworks to improve quality, efficiency, and coverage.

Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex situations, set priorities, and drive outcomes.
- Effective communicator who can clearly articulate ideas, influence decisions, and engage diverse stakeholders through both verbal and written communication.




- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams, anticipate stakeholder needs, and build trust through ethical practices and technical expertise.
- Proven track record of driving continuous improvement by adopting new tools, technologies, and engineering practices, including AI-assisted testing.
- Experience contributing to team efficiency, quality standards, and operational excellence through automation and process optimization.
- Domain experience in financial services, banking, brokerage, or other highly regulated environments.
- Hands-on experience building or contributing to enterprise-scale test automation platforms.
- Knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner, k6) and security testing / DevSecOps practices.
- Familiarity working in distributed (onsite/offshore) team environments.
- Relevant certifications such as ISTQB Advanced, Certified Agile Tester (CAT), or SAFe Agilist are a plus.
