Role Summary:

The Functional Areba Expert shall lead meteorological assessments and air quality modelling studies for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) projects. The incumbent will be responsible for collection and analysis of meteorological data, application of CPCB-approved dispersion models, prediction of air quality impacts, and preparation of technical chapters of EIA/EMP reports in accordance with MoEF&CC; and NABET requirements. Candidate should have approval of NABET as Functional Area Expert.

Essential Educational Qualification:

Candidates should possess any one of the following:

B.E./B.Tech. in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or Chemical Engineering; OR

M.Sc. in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Environmental Studies, Industrial Pollution Control, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Statistics.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years of total skilled experience, including at least 1 year in EIA-related projects (Category B equivalent) as per NABET terms & condition.

Key Responsibilities:

Collect, validate and analyse primary and secondary meteorological data.

Develop site-specific micro-meteorological databases.

Conduct ambient air quality impact assessments using CPCB-approved air dispersion models.

Perform dispersion modelling for point, area and line sources.





Assess source-to-receptor relationships and predict air quality impacts.

Prepare Air Environment chapters of EIA/EMP reports.

Ensure compliance with MoEF&CC;, CPCB and NABET requirements.

Coordinate with multidisciplinary EIA teams and regulatory authorities during appraisal and compliance.

Essential Technical Competencies:

Candidates should have demonstrated experience in:

Air quality modelling using CPCB-compliant models.

Atmospheric dispersion modelling.

Source apportionment and source-to-receptor assessment.

Environmental data interpretation and technical report writing.

Preparation of EIA documentation. NABET Accredition.pdf

Desirable Skills:

Experience in obtaining and processing IMD meteorological data.

Working knowledge of AERMOD, CALPUFF or equivalent regulatory air dispersion models.

Familiarity with GIS applications for environmental assessment.

Strong analytical, documentation and presentation skills.

Experience in NABET-accredited EIA consultancy projects will be preferred.
