Experience

5+ years in fragrance analytical work and/or fragrance creation, ideally both

Education

M.Sc in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry, or equivalent; formal perfumery training/certification (e.g., ICT Mumbai's Perfumery & Flavour Technology program, or an in-house flavour/fragrance house academy) is a strong plus

Role Purpose

Analyses fragrance raw materials and finished compositions using GC-MS/headspace techniques, and uses those findings to support fragrance matching, reconstruction, and creation, bridging the analytical and creative sides of fragrance development.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform GC-MS and headspace analysis on fragrance raw materials, competitor samples, and finished fragrance compositions
- Interpret chromatograms and mass spectra to identify compounds, impurities, and key odour-active ingredients
- Use analytical findings to support fragrance matching/reconstruction, replicating or improving on a target scent profile
- Create and refine fragrance formulations for functional and/or fine fragrance categories (soaps, detergents, personal care, home care, or fine fragrance, depending on focus) based on customer briefs
- Maintain and calibrate GC-MS/GC equipment; troubleshoot instrument issues
- Document formulations,



analytical reports, and raw material evaluations to a standard suitable for internal reference and IP protection
- Coordinate with sales/business development on technical aspects of customer briefs and cost-effective formulation options

Must-Have Skills & Knowledge

- Hands-on GC-MS and headspace analysis experience specific to fragrance/aroma chemical samples
- Ability to interpret chromatographic/analytical data and translate it into actionable formulation insight
- Working knowledge of fragrance raw materials and formulation principles
- Trained olfactory/sensory skill for fragrance evaluation and creation

Good to Have

- Prior experience specifically in functional fragrance categories (deodorants, soaps, detergents, home care) if that's this company's focus
- IFRA compliance awareness for fragrance formulations
- Experience mentoring junior analysts or perfumers

Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
