Production Assistant Manager - Foundry

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Production Assistant Manager to support daily manufacturing operations, optimize production workflows, and lead shift supervisors and shop-floor teams. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Production Manager to meet production targets, enforce quality and safety standards, and drive continuous operational improvements.

Key Responsibilities

- Assists the Production Manager in planning daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules. Coordinates shop-floor activities across departments (Melting, Moulding, Core Shop, Fettling, etc.) to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery.
- Supervises line supervisors, operators, and shop-floor staff. Manages shift allocation, monitors manpower availability, and fosters a productive work environment.
- Monitors cycle times, reduces machine downtime, and minimizes material waste. Implements Lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency.
- Enforces process parameters and standard operating procedures (SOPs).



Works with Quality Control teams to analyze root causes of casting/production defects and implement effective corrective actions.
- Enforces strict workplace safety protocols, ensures consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and conducts routine safety and housekeeping audits.
- Coordinates closely with Maintenance, Stores/Inventory, Quality Control, and Dispatch teams to prevent production delays and ensure a smooth supply of raw materials.
- Tracks daily production metrics (OEE, yield, scrap rates, downtime). Prepares daily production logs and performance reports for senior management.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Metallurgy, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience: 5 to 8 years of supervisory or assistant manager experience in a foundry
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of shop-floor manufacturing processes, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Tally), and quality tools (5S, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis).
- Soft Skills: Proven leadership, problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.
