Quality Manager – Foundry

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) operations across our foundry plant. The Quality Manager will oversee raw material inspection, metallurgical testing, process monitoring, final casting inspection, and customer quality compliance. This role focuses on minimizing scrap and rejection rates, implementing robust root cause analyses, and driving continuous process improvements to maintain high quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Establish, enforce, and update quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and quality assurance frameworks across all foundry divisions (Melting, Moulding, Core Shop, Fettling, and Machining).
- Lead quality certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and audit preparedness across the organization.
- Oversee spectrographic chemical analysis, microstructural examination, sand testing, and mechanical testing (tensile, hardness, impact).
- Ensure strict parameter adherence for liquid metal chemistry, nodularity (for SG iron), pouring temperatures, and sand properties.
- Analyze daily internal scrap and customer return/rejection data (e.g., blowholes, sand inclusions, shrinkage, porosity, dimensional variation).
- Lead cross-functional teams in executing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using 8D methodology, 5-Why, and Fishbone diagrams, implementing permanent Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).




- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality inquiries, non-conformance reports (NCRs), initial sample inspection reports (ISIR/PPAP), and in office customer audits.
- Oversee non-destructive testing (NDT)—such as dye penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, or radiography testing—where customer specifications require it.
- Monitor the incoming inspection of raw materials (pig iron, scrap, ferroalloys, resins, silica sand, and bentonite) to ensure supplier compliance with chemical and physical standards.
- Manage and train QA/QC engineers, lab technicians, and inspectors on calibration, measuring equipment usage, and defect identification.

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience: 8 to 15 years of hands-on quality management experience in a grey iron (CI) / ductile iron (SG) foundry environment.
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of foundry metallurgy, casting defects, sand system testing, NDT methods, and GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Quality Tools: Expertise in 8D problem solving, PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA.
- Software: Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Leadership Skills: Strong auditing, technical report writing, vendor evaluation, and team management capabilities.
