1. Job Purpose
The Solar Technician will be responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, operation, inspection, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The role requires safe and productive execution of technical activities at project sites while maintaining quality, productivity and compliance with company and site safety standards.
2. Key Responsibilities
· Install and assemble solar PV modules, mounting structures, DC/AC cabling, junction boxes, combiner boxes and related equipment.
· Carry out electrical and mechanical installation work as per approved drawings, specifications and site instructions.
· Perform testing, commissioning and basic configuration of solar PV systems and associated electrical equipment.
· Inspect solar panels, cables, connectors, earthing systems, inverters and other components for defects or abnormal conditions.
· Identify and troubleshoot common electrical, mechanical and performance-related issues in solar installations.
· Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance, including cleaning, tightening, visual inspection and replacement of faulty components where authorized.
· Use electrical testing instruments such as multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers and other approved tools correctly.
· Maintain proper cable routing, termination, labeling, earthing and housekeeping at the work site.
· Record maintenance activities, faults, readings, material usage and work completion details in required formats.
· Coordinate with Site Engineers, Supervisors, subcontractors and other technicians to complete work within project schedules.
· Follow electrical safety procedures, permit-to-work requirements, PPE requirements and work-at-height practices.
· Report unsafe conditions, equipment faults,
material shortages and major technical issues promptly to the reporting supervisor.
· Support site inspections, performance checks and handover activities as required.
· Carry out any other technical duties assigned by the Project Manager / Site Engineer.
3. Required Qualifications
· ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Solar, Renewable Energy or a related technical trade preferred.
· Relevant certification or vocational training in solar PV installation/maintenance will be an advantage.
· Freshers with suitable technical training may be considered; relevant experience in solar installation or electrical maintenance is preferred.
4. Experience
· 1–2 years of relevant experience in solar PV installation, electrical work, maintenance or renewable-energy projects preferred.
· Experience with rooftop, ground-mounted or commercial/industrial solar projects will be an advantage.
5. Technical Skills
· Basic knowledge of solar PV system components and electrical circuits.
· Understanding of DC and AC electrical systems, cable termination, earthing and protection devices.
· Ability to read basic electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and installation layouts.
· Ability to use hand tools and electrical testing instruments safely.
· Basic fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
· Basic computer/mobile reporting skills for maintenance records and site updates.

· Strictly follow company HSE policies, electrical safety procedures and project-specific safety requirements.
· Use appropriate PPE including safety helmet, safety shoes, gloves, eye protection and fall-protection equipment where applicable.
· Follow safe isolation/lockout procedures and never work on energized equipment unless specifically authorized under approved procedures.
· Maintain clean and organized work areas and immediately report hazards, near misses and incidents.

9. Working Conditions
This is primarily a field/site-based position. The technician may be required to work outdoors, at heights and in varying weather conditions, depending on the project. The role may involve travel to different project locations and flexible working hours based on site requirements.
