Job Description – Head of Maintenance

Job Purpose

To lead and manage the complete maintenance function of the manufacturing plant, ensuring maximum machine availability, minimum breakdowns and downtime, safe operation of equipment, and effective preventive and predictive maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the overall Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Utility Maintenance activities of the plant.
- Ensure maximum availability and reliability of production machinery.
- Develop and implement Preventive, predictive, and Breakdown Maintenance systems.
- Ensure immediate response to machine breakdowns and minimize production downtime.
- Maintain proper Machine Breakdown Reports with breakdown time, root cause, corrective action and restoration time.
- Analyze recurring breakdowns and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Plan and monitor daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate with Production and other departments to plan maintenance activities without affecting production targets.
- Maintain critical spare parts and ensure availability of essential maintenance inventory.
- Control maintenance costs and optimize the use of manpower, spares and external vendors.
- Manage and guide the maintenance team, including technicians, electricians and operators involved in basic maintenance activities.
- Ensure proper maintenance of paper machines, coating machines, dryers/ovens, calenders, rewinders, cutters,



packing/converting equipment and related production machinery, as applicable.
- Ensure proper maintenance of plant utilities such as compressors, DG sets, electrical systems, HVAC, pumps, boilers/thermic systems and other utility equipment, as applicable.
- Maintain proper records of machine history, breakdowns, preventive maintenance, spare consumption and maintenance costs.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major and repeated machine failures.
- Identify opportunities for machine improvement, automation and energy saving.
- Coordinate with OEMs, contractors and external service providers for specialized maintenance and equipment support.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, statutory and environmental requirements related to maintenance activities.
- Ensure proper implementation of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) and other maintenance safety procedures.
- Conduct regular inspection of machines and identify potential failures before breakdown occurs.
- Support installation, commissioning, and modification of current machines and equipment.
- Prepare and present daily, weekly and monthly maintenance performance reports to management.

Required Qualification

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering.
- Additional technical certifications in maintenance/engineering will be an advantage.

Experience

- 10–15+ years of relevant industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a Maintenance Manager / Maintenance Head / Engineering Head role.
- Experience in paper, coating, printing, converting, chemical, textile or similar continuous/process manufacturing industries will be preferred.

- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance.
- Good understanding of industrial automation, PLC, sensors, and instrumentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and breakdown-management skills.
- Knowledge of Preventive & Predictive Maintenance.
- Strong RCA and problem-solving ability.
- Knowledge of maintenance planning and spare-parts management.
- Good leadership and team-management skills.
- Ability to work under production pressure and handle critical breakdowns.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Basic knowledge of ERP/CMMS and maintenance reporting systems.

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
