About the Company
Squad Health is a New York-based technology company on a mission to improve patient access to specialty medications by eliminating the administrative friction that slows down care. Today, affordability for specialty therapies often depends on complex, manual coordination across patients, providers, pharmacies, payers and pharmaceutical manufacturers — placing significant burden on clinical teams and delaying treatment for patients.
Squad Health partners directly with provider organizations to automate these workflows end-to-end, giving practices time back and helping patients start therapy faster. By connecting providers, pharmacies, and payers through a single intelligent platform, Squad Health delivers measurable outcomes: faster approvals, lower administrative burden, reduced costs, and a better experience for both staff and patients. We’ve found strong product-market fit and are backed by top-tier venture capital.

About the Role
We are seeking a part-time Bookkeeper to own the day-to-day accounting operations that keep Squad Health’s books accurate, current, and close-ready. This is a high-ownership role responsible for accounts payable, transaction coding, and a clean, on-time month-end close across Ramp, QuickBooks Online, and Rippling.
The ideal candidate is meticulous and self-directed. You won’t be handed a checklist every week — we’re looking for someone who notices when an account doesn’t tie out, chases the answer down, and leaves behind documentation the next person can follow.
As we scale, you’ll help define what positive financial hygiene looks like here.
This is a fully remote role, open to candidates globally. You will work closely with on spend and vendor questions.
Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable & Invoice Matching: Process vendor invoices end-to-end, matching invoices to purchase orders, contracts, and receipts. Flag and resolve discrepancies before payment, maintain vendor records and W-9s, and prepare payment runs on a predictable cadence.
- Spend Management & Transaction Coding: Own transaction coding and review in Ramp. Chase down missing receipts and memos from cardholders, ensure spend is mapped to the correct GL accounts and departments, and keep documentation attached and audit ready.
- Month-End Close & Reconciliations: Drive the monthly close. Reconcile all bank, credit card, and Ramp accounts; prepare and post accruals, prepaid amortization, and recurring journal entries; perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate variances. Deliver a clean trial balance and month-end reporting package by [5 days after the end of the month ]
- Payroll & Systems Coordination: Reconcile payroll from Rippling to the general ledger,
including wages, taxes, benefits, and contractor payments. Ensure payroll entries are correctly allocated and that Rippling, and QuickBooks stay in sync.
- Operational Excellence: Foster a culture of clean books through standardized documentation, clear close checklists, and continuous improvement. Support year-end close, 1099 preparation, and requests from our outside CPA, and identify opportunities to automate or simplify recurring work.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 3+ years of bookkeeping or staff accounting experience, ideally supporting a high growth technology company and a US-based client portfolio.
Technical Fluency: Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online is required. Experience with Ramp, Rippling, or comparable spend-management and payroll platforms is strongly preferred. Comfortable in Google Sheets or Excel (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation workpapers).
Accounting Knowledge: Solid grasp of accrual-basis accounting under US GAAP -you understand why an accrual exists, not just how to book one.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous and methodical, with a habit of documenting your work so that others can follow and verify it.
Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written communication skills and the ability to work asynchronously across time zones, proactively raising questions and blockers rather than waiting to be asked.
Availability: 15–20 hours per month with flexibility in scheduling overlapping with US Eastern Time
Work Location: Remote
