Job Description – Site Engineer
Department: Projects / Construction
Designation: Site Engineer
Reporting To: Project Engineer / Project Manager
Location: Project Site
Industry: Construction / Commercial Interior Fit-Out
Job Purpose
The Site Engineer is responsible for day-to-day site execution and supervision, ensuring that work is completed as per approved drawings, BOQ, specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedule.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Execution
- Supervise and monitor daily construction/interior fit-out activities at site.
- Ensure work is executed as per approved drawings, specifications, BOQ, and method statements.
- Coordinate with supervisors, subcontractors, vendors, and workers.
- Monitor manpower and ensure optimum utilization.
- Ensure required materials, tools, and equipment are available at site.
- Identify site issues and immediately report them to the Project Engineer/Project Manager.
2. Drawings & Technical Coordination
- Read and understand GFC, shop drawings, layouts, and details.
- Ensure execution is carried out as per the latest approved drawings.
- Coordinate with the Project Engineer/Design Team for drawing-related clarifications.
- Highlight discrepancies between drawings, BOQ, and actual site conditions.
3. Measurement & Quantity
- Take daily measurements of completed work.
- Maintain activity-wise and area-wise quantity records.
- Assist the Project Engineer in preparing JMR and client measurements.
- Maintain records of executed quantities as per BOQ.
- Identify additional/variation/NT works and report them immediately.
4. Quality Control
- Ensure workmanship meets the required quality standards.
- Coordinate with QA/QC personnel for inspections.
- Raise WIR/MIR and arrange inspections as required.
- Maintain quality checklists and inspection records.
- Rectify defects and ensure timely closure of observations and snags.
5. Material Management
- Check materials received at site against approved specifications and requirements.
- Coordinate with the Store/Purchase team for material requirements.
- Monitor material consumption and minimize wastage.
- Report shortages, damages, or incorrect materials immediately.
6. Progress Monitoring
- Monitor daily progress against the planned schedule.
- Submit daily site updates/DPR to the Project Engineer/Project Manager.
- Maintain activity-wise progress records.
- Highlight delays and site constraints immediately.
- Ensure assigned activities are completed within the planned timeline.
7. Safety
- Follow all client and company safety requirements.
- Ensure workers use required PPE.
- Coordinate with the Safety Officer regarding permits and safety requirements.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses immediately.
- Do not allow unsafe work practices at site.
8. Client & Subcontractor Coordination
- Coordinate with client representatives and consultants for daily site activities.
- Arrange inspections and approvals as required.
- Coordinate with subcontractors for manpower and work completion.
- Follow up on pending works and ensure timely closure.
9. Documentation
Maintain and update:
- Daily Progress Reports (DPR)
- Site measurements
- JMR
- WIR/MIR
- Quality checklists
- Material records
- Snag lists
- Work schedules
- Site photographs
- Daily manpower reports
- Other project-related documents as instructed
10. Snagging & Handover
- Identify and record pending/snags during execution.
- Coordinate with subcontractors for snag closure.
- Verify completed works before client inspection.
- Assist the Project Engineer/Project Manager in project handover activities.

- Quality of execution and reduction in rework
- Accurate and timely measurements

Qualification & Experience
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering or relevant discipline.
- 1–4 years of experience in construction, commercial interiors, fit-out, or infrastructure projects.
- Good knowledge of construction drawings, site execution, measurements, and BOQ.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Excel.
- Good communication, coordination, and site management skills.
Accountability
The Site Engineer is primarily accountable for proper day-to-day execution and supervision of assigned site activities, including quality, productivity, measurements, safety, manpower coordination, and timely reporting to the Project Engineer/Project Manager.
Pay: ₹10,948.78 - ₹37,687.96 per month
