- Start, operate, and shut down boilers, ensuring they are running efficiently.
- Monitor gauges, meters, and other indicators to maintain proper operating conditions.
- Adjust the controls and settings of the boiler to ensure optimal performance.
2. Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance on boilers, including cleaning, lubrication, and checking for wear and tear.
- Inspect and test the equipment regularly to identify any issues or potential hazards.
- Schedule and perform preventive maintenance to avoid breakdowns.
3. Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all operations comply with safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Monitor for leaks, excessive pressure, or any signs of malfunction that could lead to unsafe conditions.
- Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance, and safety checks as required by regulations.
4. Troubleshooting:
- Identify and troubleshoot mechanical or operational problems with the boiler system.
- Take corrective action quickly in case of faults or emergencies.
- Work with engineering and maintenance teams to resolve complex technical issues.
5. Water Treatment:
- Monitor water quality and ensure that water treatment processes (such as adding chemicals) are correctly implemented to prevent boiler scaling or corrosion.
- Maintain water levels and check for water quality through testing.
Boiler operators need to have a good understanding of mechanical systems, safety procedures, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient operation.
