Job Description:
- Under limited supervision, plans and leads the implementation of enterprise server, storage, and application infrastructure projects, including installations, modifications, and upgrades.
- Researches best practices and collaboration with internal resources to propose and implement optimal designs for different physical, virtual, and cloud platforms.
- Advises on the development and management of internal systems to achieve proper security, network, availability, optimal storage capability, and other functionality.
- Performs automation of workloads to improve performance, reduce costs, reduce maintenance of servers and storage devices, and help improve self-service capabilities.
- Develops scripts across various platforms to, for example, improve the consistency of infrastructure systems, monitor for and respond to routine issues, maintain healthy backups of data, and other automation functions.
- Maintains detailed documentation of enterprise technology, server, storage, application, and security best practices in the physical, virtual, and cloud-based environments.
- Monitors server, storage,
and application performance, tracks metrics, and collects and analyzes logs.
- Remediates problem situations as needed.
- May escalate some cloud-based issues.
- Performs other duties as required.
Skills & Abilities:
Advanced knowledge of routing, switching, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), firewalls, load balancing, subnetting, and other entry-level networking skills. Advanced knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) and/or Oracle databases. Advanced knowledge of physical and virtual/cloud storage capabilities, the ability to optimize disk performance, and the experience to protect or recover data. Advanced ability to develop custom scripts and/or configure orchestration products to complete complex tasks. Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with physical and virtual/cloud systems technology. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks both individually and as a member of a team. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows server products and hands-on experience supporting and Active Directory environment. Knowledge and experience supporting Linux. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Solid knowledge of security standards and frameworks, applicable laws and regulations, policies, procedures, and tools. Solid understanding of physical and logical security access and authentication principles, network architecture, systems design, internet protocols, firewall theory, OSI model, and incident response and escalation procedures. Good ability to weigh business needs against security concerns and articulate issues to management. Good verbal and written communication skills. Good attention to detail.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. 7 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Amount of Travel Required: No Travel is required Background Check and Drug Testing Information: CDM Smith Inc. and its divisions and subsidiaries (hereafter collectively referred to as “CDM Smith”) reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions. In addition, CDM Smith may conduct drug testing for designated positions. Background checks are conducted after an offer of employment has been made in the United States. The timing of when background checks will be conducted on candidates for positions outside the United States will vary based on country statutory law but in no case, will the background check precede an interview. CDM Smith will conduct interviews of qualified individuals prior to requesting a criminal background check, and no job application submitted prior to such interview shall inquire into an applicant's criminal history. If this position is subject to a background check for any convictions related to its responsibilities and requirements, employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation including criminal history. Criminal history will not automatically disqualify a candidate. In addition, during employment individuals may be required by CDM Smith or a CDM Smith client to successfully complete additional background checks, including motor vehicle record as well as drug testing.
