Job Description – Diamond Quality Control (QC)

Position: Diamond QC

Location: Madurai

1. Job Purpose

To ensure that all diamonds received, processed, and used in jewellery meet the company's defined quality standards and specifications. The role is responsible for diamond inspection, grading verification, quality assurance, documentation, and coordination with vendors and internal teams.

2. Key Responsibilities

- Inspect and evaluate diamonds for cut, colour, clarity, carat weight and overall quality.
- Verify diamonds against purchase specifications, certificates, and internal quality standards.
- Identify inclusions, defects, chips, cracks, scratches and other quality issues.
- Check diamond dimensions, symmetry, proportions, polish and finish.
- Ensure accurate diamond weight and measurement using appropriate equipment.
- Verify authenticity and quality of certified diamonds.
- Conduct quality checks on loose diamonds and diamonds set in jewellery.
- Identify and segregate diamonds that do not meet the required quality standards.
- Prepare and maintain QC inspection reports and rejection/return records.
- Coordinate with Purchase, Merchandising, Production, Jewellery Manufacturing and Stores teams regarding quality issues.
- Communicate quality concerns to vendors and support vendor quality improvement.
- Monitor recurring quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure proper handling and security of diamonds during the inspection process.
- Maintain records of diamond grading, inspection results and approvals.
- Support periodic quality audits and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards and operating procedures.

Qualification

- Diploma / Degree / Certification in Gemology or Diamond Grading preferred.
- GIA / IGI / HRD or equivalent certification will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of diamond grading and jewellery quality standards is essential.

5. Experience

- 2–6 years of relevant experience in Diamond QC / Diamond Grading / Jewellery Quality Control.
- Experience in a jewellery manufacturing, diamond trading, or retail jewellery organization preferred.

6. Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of 4Cs – Carat, Colour, Clarity and Cut.
- Diamond grading and identification skills.
- Knowledge of diamond testing and measuring instruments.
- Good observation and analytical skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to identify diamond defects and quality variations.
- Good documentation and reporting skills.

Preferred industry experience: Jewellery manufacturing / Diamond sourcing / Jewellery retail / Diamond QC.

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
