JOB DESCRIPTION – SAFETY ENGINEER
Position: Safety Engineer
Experience: 5–8 Years
Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech – Engineering
Industry: Building Construction / Infrastructure / Government Projects / Metro Construction
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Safety Engineer with 5–8 years of hands-on experience in high-rise residential building construction, government projects and metro/infrastructure construction projects. The candidate will be responsible for implementing site safety systems, conducting inspections, identifying hazards, ensuring statutory compliance and promoting a strong safety culture across project sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor HSE policies, procedures and safety management systems at project sites.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits and risk assessments.
- Identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions and ensure timely corrective actions.
- Monitor safety activities for high-rise residential building construction, government projects and metro construction works.
- Prepare and implement Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.
- Ensure safe working practices for work at height, scaffolding, lifting operations, excavation, formwork, rebar work and concrete activities.
- Monitor safety during structural works, MEP activities, façade works and finishing activities.
- Ensure proper implementation of PPE requirements and work-at-height safety systems.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions and daily safety briefings for workers, engineers, supervisors and subcontractors.
- Monitor scaffolding, ladders, safety nets, lifelines, guardrails and fall-protection systems.
- Ensure safe operation of construction machinery, lifting equipment and tools.
- Monitor crane, hoist, material handling and lifting operations.
- Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with approved safety procedures.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses and prepare appropriate reports.
- Maintain safety records, inspection reports, training records and statutory documentation.
- Conduct emergency preparedness drills and ensure implementation of emergency response procedures.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Consultants and Client representatives on safety-related matters.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Indian safety standards, statutory requirements and project-specific HSE requirements.
- Monitor housekeeping, fire safety, electrical safety and environmental safety at project sites.
- Conduct periodic safety awareness programs and ensure continuous improvement in site safety performance.
Mandatory Technical Requirements
- B.E./B.Tech qualification in Engineering.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in construction/infrastructure safety.
- Mandatory experience in high-rise residential building construction projects.
- Experience in Government construction projects is required.
- Experience in Metro / Metro Rail / infrastructure construction projects is required.
- Solid knowledge of construction safety practices, HSE procedures and risk assessment.
- Good knowledge of work-at-height and fall-protection systems.
- Experience in PTW, JSA, Risk Assessment, Method Statements and Toolbox Talks.
- Strong knowledge of site safety inspection and audit procedures.
- ADIS and PDIS certifications are mandatory, with certification obtained before 2024.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage safety requirements across multiple contractors and subcontractors.

Certification Requirements
Mandatory:
- ADIS – Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety
- PDIS – Professional Diploma in Industrial Safety
- Both certifications must have been obtained before 2024.
