Job Description – Physiotherapist

Position: Physiotherapist
Department: Physiotherapy / Clinical Services
Location: Motherhood Hospital, Saravanampatti, Coimbatore
Qualification: BPT / MPT in Physiotherapy
Experience: 1–3 years preferred, preferably in women’s health, maternity, or hospital settings
Reports To: Department Head / Clinical Head

Key Responsibilities

- Impart knowledge and participate in providing education and guidance in preparation for childbirth and parenthood.
- Assess and treat skeletal, muscular, and musculoskeletal ailments or discomfort experienced during pregnancy.
- Provide prenatal and postnatal physiotherapy services, including postnatal exercises and specialized treatment wherever required.
- Educate patients on effective relaxation techniques, breathing awareness, positioning, and labour-support techniques.
- Provide specialized physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, monitoring, and management.
- Conduct regular inpatient rounds and provide physiotherapy support as required.
- Observe and support patients while mobilizing and walking inside the room, ensuring safety and proper technique.
- Educate patients on correct posture, body mechanics, post-delivery care, precautions, and exercises.
- Conduct OPD physiotherapy consultations as per scheduled appointments.
- Visit the LDR (Labour, Delivery & Recovery) area and conduct Lamaze sessions for women during the 1st and 2nd stages of labour, as appropriate.




- Address women’s health concerns related to childbirth, antenatal, and postpartum conditions, including pelvic pain, labour pain, lymphedema, osteoporosis, and other musculoskeletal concerns.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on the patient’s clinical condition and requirements.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate patient records, treatment notes, assessments, and follow-up documentation in accordance with NABH standards and hospital protocols.
- Ensure adherence to infection control, patient safety, clinical quality, and hospital policies.
- Provide appropriate patient and family counselling regarding physiotherapy treatment, exercises, precautions, and home care.

Desired Skills

- Strong knowledge of women’s health and obstetric physiotherapy.
- Good understanding of prenatal, labour, and postnatal physiotherapy.
- Knowledge of Lamaze, breathing, relaxation, and positioning techniques.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with doctors and clinical teams.
- Compassionate and patient-centric approach.
- Good documentation and clinical record-keeping skills.
