Job Role - Project Engineer (10-12 Yrs with relevant Experience)

Education - Diploma/ Degree (Mechanical) / Chemical / Electrical / Environmental Engineering (or allied disciplines).

Job Location - Surat (Gujarat)

CTC - Max. 5.5 LPA

Role & responsibilities

Procurement of Engineering Equipment

- Source, evaluate, and recommend suppliers for mechanical and process equipment such as pumps (centrifugal, submersible, dosing), blowers, actuators, valves (butterfly, gate, non-return), filter presses, aeration systems, mixers, flow meters, level sensors, and allied instrumentation.
- Review technical specifications issued by the design/engineering team and translate them into precise RFQ (Request for Quotation) documents.
- Ensure procurement of items is aligned with project BOQ (Bill of Quantities) and scope of supply.

2. Vendor Development & Management

- Identify, qualify, and onboard current vendors for wastewater treatment project equipment, with a focus on reliability, quality standards, and delivery performance.
- Maintain and update an approved vendor list (AVL) categorised by equipment type, geography, and track record.
- Develop alternative sourcing channels to reduce single-vendor dependency and improve commercial leverage.
- Conduct or facilitate vendor audits and performance reviews as required.

3. Comparative Statement Preparation

- Prepare detailed techno-commercial comparative statements by evaluating multiple vendor offers on engineering specifications, compliance to data sheets, delivery schedules, payment terms, warranty, and price.
- Highlight deviations, exceptions, and technical non-compliances clearly in comparative analysis.
- Support the decision-making process by providing well-structured recommendations backed by technical and commercial rationale.

4. Negotiation





- Lead or actively participate in commercial negotiations with vendors to achieve optimal pricing, favourable payment terms, and firm delivery commitments.
- Negotiate warranty terms, performance guarantees, and after-sales service clauses in alignment with project requirements.
- Maintain professionalism and long-term relationship focus during negotiations.

5. ERP & Lead Time Management

- Work within or support the company's ERP framework to raise purchase requisitions, track purchase orders, and monitor delivery milestones.
- Accurately maintain and communicate lead times for critical equipment to project planning and execution teams.
- Flag potential delays proactively and coordinate with vendors and internal teams to mitigate procurement-related project risks.
- Maintain procurement MIS / trackers to ensure visibility of order status across the project portfolio.

Qualifications & Experience

Educational Background

- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical / Chemical / Electrical / Environmental Engineering (or allied disciplines).
- Additional certifications in procurement, supply chain, or project management are advantageous but not mandatory.

Experience

- Minimum 12-15 years of total experience in procurement / purchase functions within engineering / EPC / process industries.
- Direct, hands-on experience purchasing mechanical and process equipment , specifically pumps, blowers, actuators, valves, instrumentation for wastewater treatment, water treatment, or similar process plants.
- Demonstrated experience preparing comparative statements with technical scrutiny and commercial evaluation.
- Prior exposure to ERP systems for purchase order management, lead time tracking, and vendor management.
